Hello world! I am excited to be typing my very first blog as I prepare to embark on my journey to Bali and Beyond (catchy, isn’t it?) in a few short hours – 37 to be precise! It would seem befitting in this first blog to talk about where I’m going and tell the story leading up to how I suddenly decided to take a few months off from work. But I’m not going to. Mostly because it’s already 2AM and I want to really take my time in describing those details. I’m just happy and proud that I’m getting my blog set up before actually leaving!
What I will say is that emotionally, I am feeling surprisingly neutral. My main focus is completely logistical – having everything I need with me on the trip, and closing out and automating all the details while I’m gone. I was actually starting to feel bad about just how neutral I was feeling about everything – just celebrating my birthday that continues to remind me that I am a “thirty something”, taking a multi-month leave of absence, leaving beloved friends and family, traveling by myself half way around the world to continents that I have never before set foot on, and having only loose plans for where I’m going, and where I’ll stay. At a minimum, I should be either excited about the new adventure or scared out of my mind. I’m realizing as I type that I’m probably experiencing both, and every other emotion in between, and that’s just too much to handle while saying goodbye to everyone, pack, tie up loose ends, end re-pack because I know I’m attempting to take too much with me! So, I stay neutral to keep it all together and stay focused and productive.
A quick note of primary blog topics:
